Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball Runs Past Medaille

The St. John Fisher College women's basketball program earned its second win in as many days on Sunday, as the Cardinals cruised to an 87-59 win over visiting Medaille College.

With the victory, Fisher evens its record to 2-2 on the year.

The game was fairly even for the first 10 minutes with Fisher leading 22-17 after one quarter.  Medaille scored on its opening possession of the second quarter, but Fisher took control after that, outscoring the Mavericks 25-6 for the rest of the period.  Fisher used a 12-1 run over a four-minute span early in the second quarter to take control.  The pivotal run was capped by back-to-back 3-pointers from Erin Hulbert and Maria Kelleher

Fisher led 47-24 at the half.   The Cardinals shot 11-of-17 from the floor in the second quarter, while the Mavericks were just 1-of-10 from the field.

Fisher kept the momentum going to open the second half, using a 9-2 run to open the period and never looked back.

Kelleher finished with a career-high 17 points to lead Fisher.  The senior was 6-of-8 from the floor, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc.

Hulbert tallied 14 points (one shy of her career-best), while Caroline Robertson added 12 points and seven rebounds.

Jessica Rhone also finished in double-figures, tallying 10 points and a team-high four steals.  Alyssa Robens led Fisher with nine boards, and chipped in with seven points.

Liga Kalnina finished with four points and four rebounds, while Nicole Robinson led Fisher with four assists and two blocked shots, while adding eight rebounds.

Freshman Chelsea Repard scored her first collegiate points, finishing with a career-high seven, including a 3-pointer.   Classmate Meghan Lescinskas also scored her first career points, while fellow freshman Alex Reigle finished with three steals.

Fisher will return to action at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at William Smith College.
