The St. John Fisher College volleyball team fell 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 27-25) in a tight battle with SUNY Cortland Wednesday evening on Bobby Wanzer Court. With the loss, Fisher moves 11-17 on the season while the Red Dragons improve to 17-13.
Aside from the game, the Cardinals also honored their two seniors in
Danielle Reid and
Jessica Simonetti for all of the hard work and dedication they had put in through their years on the squad.
Simonetti showed her seniority in the back row as the libero dug up a team-high 14 balls.
Anna Marcy also reached double-digit digs as she recorded 10.
On the offensive side of things, Marcy played a large role as well, topping the Cardinals with 15. Pitching in were
Amanda Miller and
Katie Mazierski who had eight and seven, respectively.
Setting duties were split throughout the evening as the previously mentioned Reid set registered most of her 15 assists throughout the first two games.
Phoebe Kane came in at the tail end of the second and for most of the third to pick up 20 of her own.
From the service line, Fisher collected six aces including four from Kane and one from both Marcy and Simonetti.
Fisher will return to action with a regular season ending tournament in Brockport. The Cardinals will square off with the hosting Golden Eagles at 5 p.m. on Friday to start the weekend.
