The St. John Fisher College women's soccer team fell 2-0 to Nazareth College Tuesday evening at Growney Stadium. With the loss, Fisher moves to 3-7-3 overall and 2-3-2 in the conference. Nazareth improves to 11-2-2 on the season (6-1-0).
Fisher found one of its top chances in the first stanza as a through ball sprung
Taryn Guinta loose in the box. Guinta made a nice instep to bypass the goalie, but the ball skidded just wide, giving the Golden Flyers a goal kick.
Another close call came middway through the second half where a ball crossed into the box was headed by
Carly Finn but blocked away for a Nazareth clear.
Gabriella Cotugno got the call between the pipes, turning aside 10 Nazareth shots.
Fisher will return to action at 1 p.m. on Saturday as the team hosts Ithaca College in the Cardinals' regular season home, and Empire 8, finale. The day also marks Senior Day as the team will honor its five upperclassman.
