Volleyball Splits on Final Day at RIT

The St. John Fisher College volleyball team finished out the Rochester Institute of Technology Invite with a split on Saturday. The squad fell 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-23) to the host Tigers before downing the Utica College Pioneers 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-17) in the Cardinals' final match of the day. Fisher's record on the season moves to 10-14.

Katie Mazierski led the attack for the Cardinals, recording a team-high 14 kills between the two matches. Amanda Miller and Anna Marcy chipped in as well, both finishing with 12 kills on the day.

On setting duties was Pheobe Kane, who nabbed 40 assists between the two contests. Danielle Reid saw some action as well as she tallied all 10 of her helpers in the win over Utica.

Defensively, senior Jessica Simonetti held down the backline as she picked up 19 digs to lead the Cardinals. Mazierski also reached double-digit digs on the day as she picked up 13.

At the service line, Simonetti registered eight total aces, including five in the match against the Pioneers.

Fisher will return to the court at 7 p.m. on Tuesday as the team travels to Geneseo for a non-conference bout with the Knights.
