The St. John Fisher College volleyball team won its first two games of the Morrisville State Tournament on Saturday after taking down the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg in four sets before notching a three set victory over host Morrisville State. The Cardinals (3-0) will resume play in the tournament at 1 p.m. on Sunday when they take on Bard College before going on to play Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the later in the day at 3 p.m.

Fisher came out strong in the match as they recorded 12 kills in the first set to win 25-14.

The Bobcats fought back in the second set as the Cardinals committed 14 errors and dropped the set 25-16. Fisher would bounce back as it recorded 22 kills and only 11 errors over the course of the third and fourth sets, leading to 25-11 and 25-17 wins respectively.

Sophomore
Anna Marcy paced the Cardinals with 17 kills and 16 digs in the match while sophomore
Meghan Stonebarger tallied 33 assists for Fisher.

Despite trailing 4-3 early in the first set, the Cardinals responded by going on a four-point run that included a kill from Marcy. Later in the set, with Fisher holding a 20-17 advantage, Marcy made her presence felt again as she tallied two kills within a five point run that sealed a 25-17 Cardinals win.

The second set was a back-and-forth battle with the Mustangs as Fisher found itself trailing 11-8 midway through the set. That was when sophomore
Jordan DeMartino recorded a kill, fueling a seven-point run to put the Cardinals up 15-8. Fisher would eventually take the set 25-18.

The Cardinals dominated the third set as senior
Megan Miller led the way with five kills en route to a 25-11 set win, sealing the straight set match victory for Fisher.

Marcy led the Cardinals once again with 11 kills and six digs while Miller finished with nine kills.
