The St. John Fisher College field hockey team fell 6-1 to the University of Rochester in non-conference action on Wednesday at Growney Stadium as Fisher couldn't overcome a strong first half from the visitors.

With the loss, the Cardinals fall to 6-3 on the season while the Yellowjackets, who received votes in this week's national rankings, improved to 8-2 on the season.

Rochester struck early and often as the Yellowjackets used goals in the seventh, ninth, and 17^th minutes to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Rochester would go on to tally the game's next two goals as the Yellowjackets took a 5-0 advantage in the 59^th minute.

The Cardinals wouldn't go down without a fight however as Nickole Morgan scored the lone Fisher goal of the contest in the 67^th minute. Keeley Samsonik was credited with the assist on the play.

Rochester recorded one more goal before the just game ended to take the five-goal victory.

Danielle Famolaro started in net for the Cardinals and recorded 11 saves. The senior now has 72 saves on the season and has a 6-3 record.

Fisher will return to action at 1 p.m. on Saturday as they host Utica College in an Empire 8 contest at Growney Stadium.
