Baseball Stays Hot In Win Over RIT

The St. John Fisher College baseball team earned its ninth win in its last 11 games, as the Cardinals collected a 9-2 win over visiting Rochester Institute of Technology on Wednesday at Fisher's Dugan Yard.

With the win, Fisher improves to 15-16 overall, while the Tigers fall to 16-7.

Fisher jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first after back-to-back doubles from Shane Barley and Scott Eisenmenger with two outs. The Cardinals tallied another run in the second after Cody Wiktorski tripled and scored on a wild pitch.

Fisher added two more runs in the third, capitalizing on three RIT errors.

Mike Roman delivered the big hit in the fourth – a two-run double down the line in left to put the Cardinals up 6-1.

The Cardinals tacked on three more runs in the eighth to seal the win.

Senior Josh Amann earned the win on the mound for Fisher. He went six innings, allowing just four hits, two runs, two walks and five strikeouts.  Kevin Berge (seventh and eighth) and Ryan Smith (ninth) kept the Tigers off the board over the final three innings.

Matthew Cahill was 1-for-4 on the day with a run scored and an RBI.

Wiktorski, Barley and Joe Simmons each scored two runs, while Eisenmenger was the lone player to record a multi-hit game.

Fisher will return to action with a three-game this weekend at Ithaca College.
