Baseball Beats Brockport

The St. John Fisher College baseball program pounded out 15 hits and scored one run in all but innings, as the Cardinals earned a 6-2 win over visiting College at Brockport on Wednesday at Fisher's Dugan Yard.

With the win, Fisher improves to 11-15 overall, while Brockport falls to 13-11.

Starting pitcher Ryan Smith earned the win on the mound, going five innings with four strikeouts and just three hits allowed.

Colton Fergus pitched two solid innings in relief, while Kevin Berge and Josh Amann each went one frame and didn't allow an earned run.

The top of the order accounted for a majority of Fisher's offense, as the team's No. 1, 2 and 3 hitters each enjoyed multi-hit games.

Junior Mike Roman tripled and finished the day 3-for-5 with three runs scored, while classmate Joe Simmons also went 3-for-5 with a run scored.   Shane Barley, Fisher's No. 3 hitter, went 2-for-4 and drove in Fisher's first two runs of the game.

Matthew Cahill and Cody Wiktorski each scored a run and tallied an extra-base hit.

Freshmen Scott Eisenmenger, Tyler Troccia and Jack Vivinetto each drove in a run and had a base hit.

Fisher returns to action for a four-game series this weekend against first-year program Elmira College.  The Cardinals will host the Soaring Eagles for two games on Saturday, starting at 1 p.m., and two more games on Sunday, starting at noon.
