The St. John Fisher College women's basketball program dropped its regular-season finale on Saturday, as the Cardinals suffered a 73-64 loss to host Stevens Institute of Technology.
With the loss, Fisher falls to 19-6 overall and 13-3 in the Empire 8 Conference, while Stevens improves to 22-3, 14-2.  With the win, Stevens earns the No. 2 seed for the Empire 8 Conference Championship and will play No. 3 Fisher at 8 p.m. on Friday in a semifinal matchup.  Top-seeded Ithaca College, who will play No. 4 Nazareth College at 6 p.m. on Friday, will host the four-team tournament.  Friday's two winners will play at 4 p.m. on Saturday in the championship with an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Championship on the line.

Portia Velasco led Fisher with 19 points and six assists, while
Mary Kate Cusack added 14 points and four steals. Freshman
Lunden Cunningham came off the bench and tallied 13 points.

Fisher led by as many as seven points at 28-21 with six minutes left in the first half, but Stevens answered with an 11-0 run and never trailed again.

The Ducks led 41-32 early in the second half, but Fisher tied it up with nine straight points – all of which came from Cusack.

Stevens led by as many as 11 points at 56-45 midway through second half. The Cardinals chipped away at the lead, making it a one-possession game with just over minute left, but could get any closer.
