Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Lott Reaches Milestone In Win Over Wildcats

Senior Chaz Lott became the 21st player in the 53-year history of men's basketball at St. John Fisher College to score 1,000 points, as the Cardinals cruised to a 94-63 win over visiting Cazenovia College on Tuesday night in the semifinals of the Woodcliff Hotel and Spa Invitational.

With the win, Fisher (5-3) advances to Wednesday's championship game and will play Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at 3 p.m., while Cazenovia will face Wilkes University at 1 p.m. in the third-place game.   Rensselaer defeated Wilkes 84-71 in Tuesday's other semifinal matchup.

A four-year starter and a two-time All-Region selection, Lott has 1,009 points for his career and also ranks fourth at Fisher in career assists with 423.

Fisher, who had six players score in double-figures, never trailed in the game, but led by only one at 10-9 with 11:34 left in the first half.   The Cardinals pulled away over the next six minutes, going on a 19-2 run with Lott reaching the milestone during that span.

Fisher led 43-23 at the half with junior Zach Ottaway scoring a career-high 16 points – all in the first half.

The Wildcats were the better team over the first 10 minutes of the second half, cutting Fisher's lead down to single digits at 58-50 with 7:33 remaining.

Fisher, however, answered the bell, going on a 9-0 run over the next 55 seconds. Tyler Hart, playing in his first game since the season-opener, started the spurt with a 3-pointer from the left corner and finished the contest with a team-high 18 points.

Hart made four 3-pointers in the game and added four assists and two steals, while Ottaway knocked down three 3s and led the team with two blocked shots.

Lott finished with 16 points and a team-high five assists.  Keegan Ryan tallied 11 points and team-best eight rebounds.   Tyler English chipped in with 10 points, while freshman Ryan Henderson scored a career-high 10 points, shooting 4-for-4 from the floor with two 3-pointers.

Sophomore Alex Sausville added seven points and four assists in the win.
