The St. John Fisher College volleyball team lost 3-2 (28-26, 16-25, 25-19, 13-25, 7-15) to Allegheny College in the first match of the Buffalo State Invitational on Friday night.

With the loss, the Cardinals drop to 14-16 on the season while Allegheny moved to 16-10 overall following the win.

In the first set, Fisher managed to come out with a 19-13 kill advantage over the Gators. That margin was instrumental in the Cardinals 28-26 set win.

Although Fisher lost the second set 25-16 after committing 11 errors, the Cardinals bounced back in set three. Fisher recorded 15 kills and only four errors on its way to winning the third set 25-19 and taking a 2-1 lead in the contest.

Allegheny turned the tables in the last two sets however, as Fisher fell 25-13 in the fourth set before dropping the fifth and final set 15-7.

Megan Miller had a strong performance for the Cardinals as she tallied a team-high 16 kills to go along with 12 digs.

Also contributing for Fisher were Madison Karwas and Katie Mazierski as Karwas recorded 13 kills and two aces while Mazierski had a team-high 31 digs.

Meghan Stonebarger had a match-high 49 assists in addition to two aces.

The Cardinals wrap-up their regular season on Saturday as they participate in the final two contests of the Buffalo State Invitational where they will take on Buffalo State at 11 a.m. and St. Lawrence University at 1 p.m.
