Head coach
Marianne O'Connor Ermi picked up her 100th career win on Friday night as the St. John Fisher College women's basketball team recorded its third straight win with an 81-38 victory over host Houghton College.
O'Connor Ermi is just the second head coach in the program, taking the reins in 2008 after Phil Kahler retired in November 2008. O'Connor Ermi served as an assistant coach for 23 years under Kahler, who posted a 797-175 record in his 33 seasons.
In her seven years as head coach, O'Connor Ermi owns a 100-72 record and has led the Cardinals to five Empire 8 Championship appearances.
With today's win, the Cardinals improve to 12-4 overall and 5-2 in the Empire 8, while Houghton falls to 3-13 and 0-8, respectively.
Fisher used a balance attack with seven players scoring, five of which posted double figures.
Portia Velasco led the way with 15 points in 17 minutes with four steals.
Sydney Bloomstein matched her season-high in boards (nine) while adding 14 points.
Mary Kate Cusack also tallied 14 points with eight steals.
Bridget Carney and
Lunden Cunningham combined for 23 points.
Emily Piacentini netted a trio of 3-pointers for nine points.
