Box ScoreStacie Skidmore scored three goals and the St. John Fisher College field hockey squad garnered a 4-2, come-from-behind win over Albright College on Saturday at the Susquehanna Tournament. The Cardinals first win of the season was also the first victory for head coach
Victoria Warzeski at Fisher.
With the victory, Fisher improves to 1-1 overall, while Albright College falls to 0-2.
The Lions struck first in the game just 6:21 into the contest off a redirected shot in front of the net. However, it would not take long for the Cardinals to even up the score as three minutes later as Skidmore connected with
Alexis Zakala for her second goal of the season.
The score would remain 1-1 until Zakala returned the favor to Skidmore at the 19 minute mark in the first half to put the Cardinals up for good. That goal started Skidmore's three goal spurt in just over a five minute span to give Fisher a 4-1 cushion. Skidmore found the back of the net on an unassisted goal for her second of the game, followed up by her third of the day off an assist from
Elizabeth Cusack at the 24:24 mark of the first half.
Fisher took a 4-1 lead into the break and held that lead until late in the game when the Lions converted a penalty stroke goal to round out the scoring.
Danielle Famolaro stopped five shots in net for the Cardinals.
Fisher returns to action at 4 p.m on Wednesday when it will travel to the College at Brockport for non-conference action.
