The St. John Fisher College field hockey team lost its momentum against Kean University, losing 5-4, in the opening game of the Connie Harnum Classic hosted by Susquehanna University.

Four Cardinals scored a goal apiece to pace the offense. Senior Alexis Zakala opened up the scoring with a goal in the 21st minute. Senior Stacie Skidmore scored a goal of her own in the 25th minute, giving the Cardinals a 2-0 lead heading into the second half.

Marissa Robinson put Kean on the scoreboard with a goal in the 39th minute.

Freshman Emily Markarian made a memorable collegiate debut by scoring an unassisted goal in the 61st minute, giving Fisher a 3-1 lead. She also tallied an assist on Skidmore's goal.

Kean moved in on Fisher's lead, making it a 3-2 game with less than five minutes left in regulation time. Fisher quickly responded with a goal from junior Elizabeth Cusack to give the Cardinals a two-goal lead.

Kean's Bridgette Bottinelli scored a pair of goals in the 67th minute and at the buzzer to tie up the game, 4-4. Bottinelli scored the eventual game-winner, nearly six minutes into overtime.

Junior goalie Danielle Famolaro made 14 saves in a complete-game effort.
