Box Score The St. John Fisher men's lacrosse team won its third straight game on Saturday edging host Geneseo 5-4 in non-conference action. Fisher scored the lone goal in the fourth quarter at the hands of
Tim Wagner to break a 4-4 tie, holding onto the one goal margin for the final 12 minutes of play.
With the win Fisher improves to 7-4 overall, while the Knights fall to 3-7.
It was a defensive battle from the get-go with neither team finding the back of the net in the first quarter.
The second quarter proved to be the most action packed quarter with five of the game's nine goals being tallied in that time frame.
Jeff Wester started things off for Fisher on an unassisted goal early in the period. Fisher doubled up the Knights at the 8:38 mark with
Greg Ramsden breaking free for the tally.
The Geneseo attack came alive to score the next two goals of the quarter only to have Wester find
Kevin DeOrdio to give Fisher a 3-2 lead into the break.
In the second half Geneseo scored the first two goals including the second tally coming at the 9:21 mark, however that would be the Knights final goal of the contest.
Wester tied the game at 4 with his second goal of the day off an assist from
Brett Farrell with two minutes left in the third quarter.
Wester finished the day with a game-high five ground balls while
David Haseley caused three turnovers.
Jamie Campagna picked up the win in net with 11 saves to improve to 5-3 on the season.
Fisher will travel to Elmira on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. matchup.
