Box Score

The St. John Fisher College men's basketball team hit the road for its longest road trip of the season, falling 76-59 to Stevens Institute Friday night.

The Cardinals drop to 11-8 overall and 5-4 in Empire 8 play.  Stevens improves to 13-5, 7-2.

After leading 29-28 at the break Fisher saw its lead slip away for good just three minutes into the second half when the Ducks pulled ahead 37-34.

Following a layup from Charles McVay to make it a two point game, Stevens connected on three straight 3-pointers to to take a 58-47 lead halfway through the second stanza.

Fisher worked to cut the lead to single-digits with Stefan Bock converting a layup to trim the Ducks lead to 62-55 with just over five minutes to play but that was as close as the Cardinals would come.  The home squad closed the game on a 14-4 run to seal the victory.

Patrick Sabatino scored ten of the Ducks first 15 points of the game with Stevens moving out to a 15-4 advantage just five minutes into the contest.

However Stevens went cold from the floor going over four minutes without scoring a basket and the Cardinals took advantage.  Chaz Lott converted a layup to make it 17-15 at the 8:30 mark.

The Cardinals went on a 13-2 run in that seven minute span, capped off by Optimystik Kinard scoring seven straight points to push the Cardinals ahead 22-19 late in the half.

Kinard led Fisher with 18 points on 8-of-14 from the field.  Tyler Hart finished with 11 points connecting on three 3-pointers.

Fisher is back in action at 2 p.m. tomorrow against host Hartwick College.  The Cardinals fell 84-82 on January 10 at Manning and Napier Varsity Gymnasium.
