The St. John Fisher College men's basketball program handed Stevens Institute of Technology its first Empire 8 Conference loss on Saturday, as the Cardinals picked up an 80-67 win over the Ducks.
With the win, Fisher improves to 8-5 overall and 2-1 in the Empire 8, while Stevens falls to 8-4, 3-1.
With 9:22 left in the first half, Fisher led by two points at 17-15, but went on an 11-0 run over the next four minutes to take a 28-15 advantage and led 40-24 at the break.
Stevens cut Fisher's lead down to single digits with 11 minutes left at 53-44, but Fisher answered with a 3-pointer from
Adam Ambielli and the Cardinals never looked back.
Ambielli led Fisher with 25 points, including three 3-pointers, while freshman
Keegan Ryan recorded his 3rd double-double of the year, tallying 15 points and 12 boards. Ryan also finished with a career-high three steals.
Chaz Lott posted 14 points and seven rebounds, while
Stefan Bock collected nine points.
As a team, Fisher shot 51.9% (28-for-54) from the floor and 84.0% (21-of-25) from the foul line.
Fisher will return to action at 6 p.m. next Friday and will host Ithaca College. It is the third of six straight home games for the Cardinals.
