The St. John Fisher College volleyball team closed out the University of Rochester Invitational losing to both Oswego State and Skidmore College in straight sets.
The Cardinals move to 3-5 on the season. Oswego State improves to 2-5, while Skidmore climbs to 6-1.
Against Oswego State the Cardinals held a late lead in the opening set, but The Lakers scored five of the next six points to edge Fisher 25-22. Oswego State got off to a strong start in the second set, opening up a 22-12 lead, but Fisher would rally, registering eight of the next ten points including four in a row, but it would not be enough as Oswego State held on to take the set 25-20.
Down two sets to nil, the Cardinals tried to force a fourth set, but it was not to be as the Lakers would eventually win the set and the match, 3-0.
Megan Miller notched ten kills, one assist and seven digs, while
Ali Mann recorded two kills and 13 assists.
Andrea Gillespie had eight digs to go along with two assists and
Erica Stickler tallied ten assists.

In the finale,
Rachael Kline blasted 12 kills, but the Cardinals couldn't get much going as they fell in straight sets to Skidmore College.
Mann tallied a career-high 21 assists, while Dominique DiPietro came up with a game-high 19 digs.
The Cardinals will open up Empire 8 play at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in Alfred, NY against the Alfred University Saxons.
