The nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College football team scored two touchdowns in both halves and allowed just 14 rushing yards on 30 attempts, as the visiting Cardinals posted a convincing 28-0 win over Otterbein University in a Division III football season-opening game for both teams.

With the win, Fisher, ranked 24
th nationally, improves to 1-0 on the year. The Cardinals are 10-2 in the last 12 years in season-opening games, with both losses coming in 2008 and 2009 to Mount Union.
The game marked the first time Fisher has posted a shutout in a season-opener since 2006. That year, Fisher finished with a 12-2 overall record and advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Championship.

Senior quarterback
Tyler Fenti, making his first career start, finished with 233 yards on 19-of-24 passing with two touchdowns and no turnovers. Â
On the third play of the second quarter, Fenti connected with
Nathan Nigolian for a five-yard touchdown to put Fisher up for good.

After forcing Otterbein to go three-and-out and punt from its own 5-yard line on its next possession, the Cardinals took advantage of the short field and Fenti floated one over the secondary to a wide-open
Kevin Francis for a 29-yard strike to give Fisher a 14-0 lead.

Fisher pushed its lead to 21-0 midway through the third quarter with running back
Ryan Kramer plowing into the endzone from three yards out, capping an 11-play, 64-yard drive.

Fisher sealed the game in the fourth. After forcing an incompletion on fourth down from the Fisher 9 with 13:31 left in the game, the Cardinals marched 91 yards on 16 plays, while using nearly 10 minutes of clock with senior
Cody Miller punching the ball into the endzone from four yards out.

Dalton Donk and
Mason Judd led the Fisher defense with 10 tackles apiece (career-high for Donk). Judd,
Sean Preish and
Derek Freitas were each credited with a sack, while Donk and
Zach Hildebrand shared a sack. Â
Cody Foster forced a fumble, which was recovered by
Ryan Ballard on the game's second series.

Cody Miller led Fisher's rushing attack with 82 yards on 17 carries.
Kramer caught seven passes for 70 yards, while Francis snagged six passes for 76 yards.

Ryan Sweet averaged 41 yards on four attempts, while
Brendan Carey was 4-for-4 on extra points.

Fisher finished the game with a 20-9 advantage in first downs and outgained Otterbein 353-145.
Fisher returns to action at 1 p.m. next Saturday and will host Washington & Jefferson College in the Cardinals' home opener. Last year, Fisher rallied from 10 points down in the fourth quarter to beat the Presidents, 28-24.
