The St. John Fisher College volleyball team picked up two wins, Saturday after blanking SUNY Oneonta 3-0 and the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford 3-1 in a quad match held at Bobby Wanzer Court.Â
With the wins, Fisher improves to 10-7 overall including three wins in its last four matches.
ONEONTA BOX SCORE
In the opening game, the Cardinals looked sharp as Oneonta was unable to gain any kind of momentum.
Rachael Kline led the Cardinals with nine kills.Â
Megan Miller finished with 11 digs, six kills and four aces, while
Erin Crandall tallied a team-high 14 digs.Â
Erica Stickler dished out 11 assists.
Paige Willson and
Mandi Mereness were each credited with four blocks.
PITT-BRADFORD BOX SCORE
After a short recess, Fisher squared off with the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford and took a quick 2-0 advantage. The Cardinals held a late 25-24 lead, but the panthers responded, scoring two quick points to put Fisher on its heels. Both teams exchanged advantages, but the Panthers rallied, scoring four of the set's final five points to earn a 28-26 victory, forcing a fourth set in the process.
Back-and-forth the score went in the fourth frame until the Cardinals rattled off eight points including five straight to hold a commanding 19-11 lead. The Panthers tried to rally, but it was not in the cards as Fisher sealed the win 25-16.
Miller led Fisher with 13 kills and 14 digs, while Willson tallied 12 kills on 24 attempts for a .417 hitting percentage.Â
Andrea Gillespie had 14 digs to go along with three service aces and
Ali Mann had a career-high 22 assists giving her 210 on the season.
Fisher will return to action at 7 p.m. on Wednesday against SUNY Cortland in Cortland, N.Y.
