Volleyball Runs Win Streak to Four

The St. John Fisher College volleyball stretched its winning streak to four straight games Saturday morning before falling to Brockport its final game at the RIT Invitational.

The Cardinals now hold a record of 7-6, while Keuka moves to 4-4 and Brockport climbs to 4-5.

KEUKA BOX SCORE

The Cardinals dueled Keuka College in the opening game, taking the first and seconds sets (25-16, 25-18) along with the fourth and deciding set 25-18.

Fisher nearly took the match in three sets, rallying back from nine point deficit with five consecutive points, but the Storm held on to send the contest into the fourth set.

In the final set, Keuka held 17-16 advantage, but the Cardinals stormed back, tying the frame at 18-18 before recording seven unanswered points four of which went down as kills by Rachael Kline.

The Cardinals received contributions from several players including Brooke Meader who tallied eight kills and Megan Miller who smashed nine kills to go along with 13 digs and an ace.  Kline had a team-high 11 kills and a .346 hitting percentage.  Ali Mann had 14 assists and Erica Stickler recorded 20 assists.

BROCKPORT BOX SCORE

In the second game, the Cardinals were bested by the College of Brockport 3-0 (23-25, 17-25, 13-25).

Fisher held a 20-22 lead in the first set, but the Golden Eagles clawed their way back into the contest and eventually took the lead and the set.  Brockport would carry the momentum over into the second and third sets as the Cardinals were unable to close the gap.

Kline led Fisher with seven kills.  Jessica Simonetti had 10 digs in the game and Paige Willson registered four kills.

The Cardinals will make their home debut at 7 p.m. on Wednesday against Elmira College at Bobby Wanzer Court.
