PLATTSBURGH BOX SCORE

The St. John Fisher volleyball team earned its first win of the season Friday after defeating SUNY Plattsburgh 3-1 in the second game of the RWU Invitational hosted by Roger Williams University.

The Cardinals took the first set 25-15, however Plattsburgh quickly evened the contest after narrowly taking the second set.  Fisher would bounce back, taking the next two sets to ensure the win.

Megan Miller led all players with 12 kills and also chipped in with 16 digs while Andrea Gillespie had a game-high 24 digs.  Fisher's offense was ignited by the smooth setting of freshman Ali Mann who contributed 17 assists and sophomore Erika Stickler tallied 16 over four sets.

Fisher suffered a setback in its season-opener against Roger Williams University, losing earlier in the day by a score of 3-0.

The Cardinals, now 1-1, take on Rhode Island College at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the second day of the RWU Invitational.
