Box Score

The St. John Fisher College men's lacrosse team scored seven-straight goals over a span of nearly 26 minutes, as the Cardinals defeated visiting SUNY Geneseo 12-3 on Tuesday at Fisher's Growney Stadium.   The win marked Fisher's sixth victory in a season opener in the last seven years and marked the program's third-straight win over the Blue Knights.

Fisher never trailed in the game, as Greg Ramsden opened the scoring 86 seconds into the season on an unassisted goal.

Geneseo tied the game at 1s, when Steve Aziz scored on the Knights' first shot of the game, but goalie Jamie Campagna and the Fisher defense would tighten up after that.

Bryan Dyer put Fisher up for good with 1:17 left in the first quarter.  The junior then helped make it 3-1 Fisher, assisting on a goal from Jeff Wester in the opening moments of the second quarter.

Geneseo made it 3-2 with 6:17 left in the half, but Fisher came back just minutes later, as Wester found Brett Farrell, who scored his first goal in a Fisher uniform to make it 4-2 at the half.

The Cardinals outscored the Blue Knights 4-0 in the third quarter, including two goals by sophomore Nick Rossi.  Dyer and senior Michael Boisvert also scored during the stanza.

Dyer scored his third goal of the game, marking his first career hat-trick, with 11:43 left in the game and 40 seconds later, Ramsden found the back of the net as well.  Boisvert and Wester also added goals in the fourth quarter.

Campagna finished with 15 saves to lead the Fisher defense including two sprawling saves in the final minute to hold Geneseo to just three goals.  The Cardinals were dominate from the face-off circle as Ryan Freije and Paul Cefalu paired up to go 14-of-19.  Freije led Fisher with 11 ground balls, going 12-for-16 individually in the circle.

Dyer finished with a career-high four points on three goals and one assist.  Ramsden also finished with a career-high four points on two goals and four assists, while Wester also tallied four points on two goals and two assists.

Fisher will return to action at 4 p.m. next Thursday and will host Clarkson University.
