The St. John Fisher College men's basketball program won its seventh straight game, as the Cardinals improved to 16-8 overall with a 77-60 win over visiting Hartwick College on Friday evening in an Empire 8 Conference matchup.
Fisher (9-4 Empire 8), shot 56.0% from the floor for the game, was led by senior
Justin Plata, who finished with 17 points and three blocks.
Jason Norsen added 14 points, eight rebounds and four blocked shots, while freshman point guard Chaz lott chipped in with 14 points, six boards, five assists and three steals.
Fisher led 29-25 at the break. The Hawks led by as many as four early on, as Anthony Keane scored 12 of his team's first 17 points, giving his squad a 17-13 lead with eight minutes left in the half. Fisher, however, went on a 16-8 run to close out the half, with a 3-pointer from Lott putting the Cardinals up for good.
The Cardinals kept in going in the second half. A 3-pointer from
Thad Wier with 16:11 left made it 39-29. Hartwick pulled to within eight points midway through the half, but back-to-back basket from
Tyler Hart gave Fisher a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game.
Fisher will close out the regular season at 2 p.m. on Saturday and will host nationally-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology. Prior to the start of the game, the College will honor its graduating seniors.
