The St. John Fisher College men's basketball program dropped a 67-59 decision to visiting Buffalo State College on Saturday in the first game of the year for both teams.

Buffalo State took control early and led 21-12 with 6:10 left in the opening period, but the Cardinals went on a 15-8 run to close out the half and went into the locker room trailing only by two at 29-27.

Fisher took its first lead since the opening moments of the game on the second possession of the second half and led by four points at 48-44 on a 3-pointer from
Chaz Lott midway with just over 10 minutes left.

The Bengals, however, responded with a 12-1 run over the next six minutes to take the lead for good and never relinquished the advantage.

For Fisher, freshman
Keegan Ryan tallied a double-double in his first career game, tallying 16 points, 10 rebounds and two blocked shots.

Garrett Sisson scored eight points off the bench, while
Stefan Bock added six points, six assists and five boards.
Â
Charles McVay chipped in with six points and six boards, while Lott and
Adam Ambielli each scored seven points.
Â
Fisher will return to action at 2 p.m. next Saturday at Medaille College.
