The St. John Fisher College volleyball team played to a four set loss (18-25, 25-19, 14-25, 10-25) to Empire 8 foe, Stevens Institute of Technology Friday afternoon at the Empire 8 Crossover hosted by Elmira College.
Fisher, now 10-10 overall, holds a 2-1 record in Empire 8 play.
After dropping the first set, the Cardinals even the match at one set apiece, ensuring that a fourth set would be needed to declare a winner.
Despite looking strong in the second frame, Fisher was unable to keep pace with the Ducks, as Stevens held the Cardinals to 24 points over the next to sets.
Rachael Kline had a monster game, smashing 17 kills in 31 attempts for a .516 hitting percentage. The Oneida, N.Y. native also had three digs to go along with three blocks.Â
Megan Miller tallied nine kills and 11 digs, while
Andrea Gillespie notched 10 digs in the loss.Â
Erica Stickler and
Ali Mann paced Fisher's offense with 20 and 15 assists, respectively.
Fisher will continue play at the Empire 8 Crossover Saturday as it takes on Hartwick College at 10 a.m. before dueling Houghton College at 12:30 p.m. Watch both games using the following:
