Fisher Softball Takes to Tucson to Tee-off Season

The St. John Fisher College softball team will open the 2012 season on Saturday night when it travels to Tucson, Arizona to take part in the Tucson Invitational.  This marks the fifth-consecutive year that the Cardinals have traveled west, compiling a 20-18 record in their previous four years in the season-starting tournament.

The Cardinals will start the season at 8 p.m. (EST) with a match-up against Chapman University and will then play Milwaukee School of Engineering immediately following Game One.  The reigning Empire 8 Champions will then play eight more games over the next five days before returning to New York State.

Fans unable to make the cross-country trek will be able to follow the action through a number of resources, as the Fisher Sports Information department will be providing Live Stats and real-time Twitter updates throughout the games.

Fans may also sign-up to receive text message updates for post-game scores, or may choose to “Like” Fisher Fanatics on Facebook for post-game stories.

Earlier this week, the Empire 8 Conference announced its preseason poll, with the Cardinals entering the season as the No. 2 team in the conference.  The Cardinals, who have won three Empire 8 Championships in the last four years, placed just won vote behind the Ithaca College Bombers who are narrowly favored at the top of the E8.
