PITTSFORD, N.Y. – St. John Fisher softball seniors Amalia DeMartino, Cassidy Ormond and Mari Spitz have been named the 2025 NCAA Division III College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team. All three players have earned the honor three years in a row.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Softball Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. To be eligible for both All-District and All-American consideration, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically, hold a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average or above and be a starter or important reserve for their respective teams.
DeMartino studied psychology and finished her time at Fisher with a 3.93 GPA. A three-time All-Empire 8 Conference selection, she played and started in all 44 of the Cardinals' games during the 2025 season. She batted. 350 with 42 total hits, including 12 doubles and two home runs, and drove in 22 runs. The shortstop had a .931 fielding percentage, recording 48 putouts and 73 assists.
Ormond, who amassed a 3.94 GPA while majoring in political science and legal studies, earned All-Empire 8 honors in each of her four collegiate seasons and was named the conference's Pitcher of the Year in 2024. This past season, she struck out 84 batters and registered a 3.23 earned-run average en route to a 13-3 record in the pitching circle.
A criminology and psychology major with a minor in management, Spitz ended her time at Fisher with a 3.92 GPA. The four-time All-Empire 8 first-team selection had the best offensive season of her career in 2025, batting .358 with 12 doubles and 13 homers while driving in a program single-season record 51 runs. Defensively, the catcher threw out 11 runners attempting to steal and allowed just five passed balls.
The Cardinals won the Empire 8 regular-season title and finished 29-15 overall in 2025.
