Cold Start Costs Cardinals vs. Worcester

The St. John Fisher College men's basketball team lost 61-54 to visiting Worcester State University on Sunday at Fisher's Varsity Gym.

With the loss, Fisher falls to 5-3.

The Cardinals came out cold, connecting on just two of their first 19 shots and trailed 20-6 at the half-way point of the opening stanza. 

Fisher, however, went on an 8-0 run over the final 5:33 of the first half trailed by just four, 25-21, at the break.

The Lancers (5-2) extended their lead to 10 on three different occasions, but Fisher stayed in contention.  Adam Ambielli's long 2-pointer made it 52-50 with 3:10 left, but the Cardinals scored only four points over the final three minutes.

Jason Norsen led Fisher on the day with 20 points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots.  Chaz Lott tallied 10 points, six assists and five boards.   Optimystik Kinard also scored 10 points, including two 3-pointers.

Ryan Dalton came off the bench and contributed six rebounds and two steals.

Fisher hosts University of Pittsburgh-Bradford next Sunday.
