The St. John Fisher College men's basketball program will tip off the 2012-13 season at 7 p.m. on Friday night, as the Cardinals square off against Fredonia State University at Hilbert College. Fisher, who suffered its first losing season since 1987 last year, will look to start a new winning streak this year, relying on a solid mix of veteran leadership and incoming talent.
Seniors
Jason Norsen and
Justin Plata should lead the way this winter. Norsen leads all returners in scoring, averaging 14.6 points per game. The senior center also led all Cardinals in rebounding, grabbing 9.1 boards per game, more than four more than any other Fisher player last season.
Plata was third on the team in scoring in 2011-12, averaging 10.2 points per game and also brings the highest 3-point percentage back, shooting 36.8% (21-for-57) from beyond the arc. The senior wingman was also third on the team in rebounding. Senior
Grant Wrap, who missed the final 15 games of the season with injury is also back.
