Cardinals Fall to Medaille in Exciting Home Match

The St. John Fisher College volleyball team fell to the visiting Medaille College Mavericks 3-0 in an exciting match on Bobby Wanzer Court.  Fisher lost by scores of 25-17, 32-30 and 25-22 in the match, dropping its season record to 3-14, while Medaille improves to 5-10.

The Mavericks took the first set with a convincing eight-point lead by a 25-17, but the second set was a thrilling one with the Cardinals pushing Medaille to the brink.  Leading 15-12 Medaille was forced to take a timeout as the Cardinals started to rally.  The home team eventually tied the game at 22-22, and six more ties extended the match well beyond 25 points.  After long rallies and the score tied at 30s, the Mavericks strung together consecutive points to take the second set.

Fisher took an 11-8 lead in the third set, but they couldn't hold on as the visiting team went ahead 19-14.  The Cardinals caught up to tie things at 22-22, but they couldn't rally anymore as the Mavericks took the third and final set 25-22.

The Cardinals will have 11 days off before traveling to face Buffalo State at 12 p.m. on October 13th.  The two teams met in Fisher's first game of the year with the Bengals victorious 3-0.
