Men's Basketball Falls to Alfred on the Road

The St. John Fisher College men's basketball team fell to Alfred University, 77-70, in an Empire 8 Conference on Saturday afternoon.   The loss drops Fisher to 10-10 on the season and 3-6 in the Conference.  Alfred is now 12-6, 5-4.

The Saxons used a strong second half, building double-digit leads multiple times, to complete the season sweep of the Cardinals

The Cardinals were able to get within one point, with the score 40-39 at the 16:14 mark, but Alfred controlled the rest of the game, getting ahead by a game high 13-points with seven minutes left.

Alfred held a slim two-point lead after the first stanza, with a 33-31 advantage on its home court.  Jordan Gettings led the Cardinals with 11 points in the half, while Jason Norsen added seven points and as many rebounds.

Norsen led the Cardinals with a double-double, scoring 20 points and grabbing 13 rebounds in the contest.  Gettings finished with 15 points, while David Lynch added nine off the bench.

Fisher will return to action on Friday night when the Cardinals welcome the Utica Pioneers to Manning & Napier Varsity Gymnasium at 8 p.m.
