The St. John Fisher College men's and women's basketball teams travel to Hartwick College tonight to take on the Hawks in what will be the start of a five-game Empire 8 Conference road trip for both teams.
The women's team is coming off of a 62-58 home victory over Alfred University this past Saturday in which senior
Meghan Soja recorded a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds. The Cardinals were also led down the stretch by freshman
Portia Velasco when she scored six of her game high 21 points in the final four minutes of her game. The Cardinals (6-9, 2-2) will tip off against the Hawks (10-3, 3-1) at 6 p.m.
Despite falling 76-62 to Alfred University at home this past Saturday, the men's team has won seven out of their last 10 games on the season. For the Cardinals (9-6, 2-2), tonight's game against Hartwick (13-2, 2-2) marks the first time they have faced the Hawks since last season's 69-58 defeat in the Empire 8 Conference Championship Final. Tip off for the rematch is set for 8 p.m.
For the second of their five straight road games, the Cardinals will travel to Hoboken, NJ to face Empire 8 Conference opponent Stevens Institute of Technology. The women will take on the Ducks (6-8, 3-1) at 2 p.m. while the men are expected to tip off at 4 p.m. against a Stevens team that is 12-2 overall and 4-0 Empire 8 Conference play.
