The St. John Fisher College volleyball team opened the 2011 season on its home court with a win, as the Cardinals
played to a 3-1 victory over the visiting College at Brockport Golden Eagles on Wednesday night.
The Cardinals cruised to a 25-13 win in the first set, before battling to a 28-26 win in the second. The third set fared a little tougher for the Cardinals, who worked from behind but came up short in the 25-23 loss. The Cardinals came out firing in the fourth, though, to seal the win with a 25-16 victory.
Senior
Becca Smith led the Cardinals with 13 kills, while returner
Rachael Kline was close behind with 11 kills. Sophomore
Kelsey Osborne topped the digs chart, tallying 10, while senior
Amanda Pinak put out a team-best four service aces.
The Cardinals return to play this weekend as they travel to Ithaca to compete in the Bomber Invitational. The tournament can be followed via the tournament site found
