The St. John Fisher College volleyball team lost to the University of Rochester on Tuesday night 3-1 (25-20, 26-28, 25-16, 25-20) at the home of the cross-town rivals. With the loss the Cardinals fall to 10-6 on the season.
Fisher highlighted the match in the second game, fighting back from a midway deficit of four. The Cardinals rallied to cause several Yellowjacket mistakes, used a few powerful kills and even thunderous serves to beat Rochester 28-26.
Becca Smith led the Cardinals with team-highs for digs (14) and kills (13). Senior Amanda Pinak killed 12 shots and added 10 digs while classmate Amy Street had a team-high 34 assists.
The Cardinals will return to action on Friday when they travel to play in the Fredonia Tournament, opening at 2 p.m. against Buffalo State.
