The
No. 1 Messiah Falcons knocked off the No. 5 St. John Fisher College Cardinals, 1-0 in round two of NCAA Regional action in Ithaca this afternoon.
Messiah (37-5) scored the game's only run in the top of the seventh inning on a two-out single up the middle to end a game-long scoreless tie.
That was the only damage done off of sophomore pitcher
Sarah Stefanon, who took the loss (14-5) despite a stellar complete-game effort. Stefanon scattered six hits and walked one batter, with five strikeouts.
Sarah Fordyce,
Jennifer Martin, and
Kelly Jones each recorded a hit in the loss.
Fisher (29-13-1) will face Middlebury in an elimination game tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.
