Women's Lacrosse Ends Regular Season with Win over St. Lawrence

The St. John Fisher College Cardinals kicked off the game on a 6-0 scoring spurt and never trailed in a 17-11 win over the visiting St. Lawrence University Saints on senior day at Growney Stadium.

Taylor Hughes kicked things off for the Cardinals, netting the game's first three goals and assisting on the fourth goal of the game, from senior Meg Merriam. Melissa Leonhard would add a goal off an assist from Courtney Clare before the first 10 minutes were over. The Saints, however, outscored the Cardinals 6-2 over the remainder of the half, giving Fisher only a 8-6 lead at the break.

Fisher came out gunning in the second, tallying the second stanza's first three goals over as many minutes. St. Lawrence broke up the scoring with a goal from the Saints' Kelsey Redpath, but it wasn't enough as Fisher tacked on six more goals, ending scoring on an unassisted goal from senior Chrysa Lyons, her first of the season.

Hughes led Fisher with seven points (5g, 2a), while senior Clare added a team-best five assists to tally up to her single-season record of 38. Leonhard, Merriam, and senior Jackie Maynard each added four points for the Cardinals, while senior Mary Stimson tallied three goals.

Molly Naylon improved to 5-0 between the pipes, stopping 11 shots.

With the win, the Cardinals close out the regular season 11-5 overall.
