The St. John Fisher College men's basketball team dropped a 64-48 decision to visiting Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday in an Empire 8 Conference contest.
With the loss, Fisher falls to 12-9 overall and 8-4 in the Empire 8 Conference, while the Ducks improve to 15-5, 8-3.
The Ducks opened play on an 8-2 run and never looked back in the first half. Fisher cut the deficit to two points on a lay-up from
Jason Norsen with 9:15 left in the first, but the Ducks jumped back out to a 22-12 lead on their ensuing 8-0 run.
The Cardinals outscored the Ducks 10-5 in the final five minutes of the opening stanza, and went into the locker room trailing 29-24.
Stevens opened the second half with a 9-2 run over the first four minutes to take a double-digit lead at 38-26.
Fisher cut the deficit down to seven points on three different occasions, but never got any closer.
Stevens shot 49% from the floor for the game, while the Cardinals struggled, connecting on 30.4% of their shots for the contest.
Fisher will return to action at 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Rochester Institute of Technology.
