Men's Basketball Defeats Utica

The St. John Fisher College men's basketball team came through with a 71-62 win over visiting Utica College on Saturday at Fisher's Bobby Wanzer Court. 

With the win, Fisher improves to 13-11 overall and 9-6 in the Empire 8 Conference, while Utica drops to 11-10, 5-8.
 
Fisher (9-6) is currently in fourth place in the Empire 8 Conference, with a one-game lead over R.I.T. (7-6). Utica took a 17-11 lead on Will Abram's dunk with 11:06 left in the first half. The Cardinals, however, answered with a 13-4 run over the next 7:30 and led 35-29 at intermission.
 
The Pioneers opened the second half with a 6-0 spurt over the first 90 seconds, knotting the game at 35s.  
 
After a Fisher timeout, the Cardinals used a 13-2 run to take a 48-37 lead with 15:21 remaining.
 
Fisher led 51-41 with 13:41 remaining, but Utica went on a 12-0 run and took the lead on a 3-pointer from Alex Meyer with 8:22 left.
 
Fisher never trailed again though. The Cardinals used a 13-2 run over the next four minutes with Brent Harder starting and ending the rally with 3-pointers.

Harder finished with 18 points – all of which came on 3-pointers.    Jason Norsen scored a career-high 21 points and added a team-best nine rebounds.
 
Jordan Gettings added 12 points.
 
Fisher will return to action at 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Nazareth College in the Cardinals' final game of the regular-season.
