The St. John Fisher College men's basketball
fell 58-45 to the Brooklyn College Bulldogs on Saturday in its last game at the 2011 Castle Classic at Manhattanville College. Fisher, who suffered its second loss in as many days, falls to 1-2 on the season, while Brooklyn improves to 2-1.
Fisher held a 10-point lead, its largest of the game, eleven minutes into the game, with the score at 19-9. However, Brooklyn battled back to take the lead with a layup from Amil John with 40 seconds left in the stanza. The bucket gave the Bulldogs a 26-25 lead, which they built off of to start the second half.
Midway through the second, with the score 43-35, Brooklyn went on a 13-0 run to push its lead to 48-35.
Jordan Gettings ended the streak with a lay-in, but the Cardinals were unable to get closer than eight points for the remainder of the contest.
Fisher was led by
Jason Norsen, who finished with 16 points and eight rebounds. Gettings, who was named to the All-Tournament team, added 15 points and three assists for the Cardinals.
David Lynch came off the bench to contribute 10 points as well.
Fisher shot just 4-for-20 (20%) from behind the arc, while Brooklyn was 6-for-11 (54.5%). The Bulldogs also stole the ball away nine times, compared to the three steals from the Cardinals.
Fisher will return to action at 7 p.m. on Tuesday night when it hosts the College at Brockport at Manning & Napier Gymnasium.
