The St. John Fisher College volleyball team
fell to powerhouse NYU 3-1 in its first game of the RIT Tournament across town this afternoon, but turned around to
defeat SUNY Geneseo 3-0 in the nightcap.
Down two games against NYU, Fisher picked up a 25-17 win in the third game before falling in the fourth. (Full scores: 25-18, 25-13, 17-25, 25-5.)
Amy Street tallied three kills and 28 assists, while
Jenna Rath and
Becca Smith combined for 30 digs.
In the straight-set win over SUNY Geneseo, who fell to RIT 3-2 in its first match of the day, Fisher won with scores of 25-22, 25-22, 25-15.
Sydney Kandefer finished the match with 11 kills, while Street tallied 33 assists. Smith led with 22 digs, while Rath,
Sarah Stack, and
Kelsey Osborne each recorded double-digit digs as well.
The Cardinals return to action against RIT at 10 a.m. tomorrow morning.
