The St. John Fisher College volleyball team opened day two at the Bomber Invitational with a five-game loss to Oneonta, but turned around to earn a 3-0 win against Geneseo, wrapping up the Invitational 2-2 overall.
In today's first match, a heartbreaking
3-2 loss to Oneonta, the Cardinals dropped the first game to the Red Dragons 25-14, but turned around to win the next two games 25-23 and 25-16. The Red Dragons found their fire, though, finishing the match off with a 25-13 win in the fourth game and a 15-10 win in the decider.
Sydney Kandefer tallied a team-best seven blocks in the match, while
Becca Smith recorded 13 kills and 12 digs.
Amy Street chipped in with 32 assists and a team-best 14 digs.
In the last game of the weekend, Fisher faced SUNY Geneseo,
cruising to a 3-0 win over the Blue Knights with game scores of 25-21, 25-19, and 25-20.
Smith added 11 kills while Street dominated with 26 assists and 11 digs. Newcomer
Rachael Kline chimed in with a team-best four blocks.
Fisher finished fourth out of nine teams in the Invitational. Smith was named to the All-Tournament team after finishing the four-game series with 42 kills and 37 digs.
The Cardinals, now 3-3 overall, return to action Wednesday night as they travel to Oswego to take on the Lakers at 7 p.m.
