Fisher Splits on First Day of Bomber Invitational

The St. John Fisher College volleyball split in day one of the Ithaca Bomber Invitational held at Ithaca College. The Cardinals opened with a 3-0 loss to Widener University, but turned around to defeat Union College 3-0 later in the night.

In Fisher's first match, a 3-0 loss to Widener, the Cardinals lost by small margins in each game, dropping the first 25-19, the second 25-17, and the third 25-20. Becca Smith tallied 10 kills, while Amy Street chipped in with 20 assists. Newcomer Sarah Stack teamed up with returned Jenna Rath to pick up eight digs each.

In the second match of the night, a 3-0 win over Union College, the Cardinals turned it around to win 25-22, 25-20, and 25-16. Smith tallied eight kills and 13 digs, while Street chimed in with 29 assists.

The Cardinals, now 2-2 overall, face SUNY Oneonta at 11 a.m. tomorrow in the Invitational, following that match up with a 1:15 p.m. contest against SUNY Geneseo.
