The St. John Fisher College women's lacrosse team fell to 0-3 on the season with
an 11-5 loss to #14 Union College on a rainy afternoon.
Five players recorded goals for Fisher.
Courtney Clare opened scoring with her third goal of the season just over two minutes into the first half, off an assist from
Trish Scudder. Union struck back with a three-goal streak before Fisher's
Meg Merriam brought the score to 3-2 off a free position shot, her eighth goal of the season.
Fisher didn't get back on the board until the second half when
Lauren Glavin scored on a free position shot. Goals from
Mary Stimson and Scudder worked to even the score, but Fisher couldn't catch up.
Fisher outshot the Dutchwomen, 36-25, and had a 41-25 ground ball advantage, while winning 11 of the 18 draw controls.
Goalkeeper
Vicki Sahm recorded six saves in net.
The Cardinals return to action on Tuesday, March 23, when they host William Smith in their home-opener at Growney Stadium. The contest begins at 4:30.
