The nationally-ranked St. John Fisher College men's basketball team used a 16-0 run midway through the first half and cruised to an 80-53 win over visiting Alfred University on Tuesday.

With the win, Fisher, ranked 25th nationally and first in the NCAA Division III East Region,  improves to 19-4 overall, but more importantly 13-1 in the Empire 8, clinching the Cardinals a share of first place in the Empire 8 standings and earning the right to host the Conference Championship on February 26th and 27th

The Saxons, who started the game shooting 6-for-7 from the floor, led 17-16 with 12:30 left in the first half, but Fisher scored the game's next 16 points over the next five minutes and cruised to a 44-29 lead at intermission.

The Cardinals, who shot 65.0% from the floor in the second half, pushed its lead to 20 points five minutes into the final period and never looked back.

Four players scored at least 12 points for Fisher. Freshman Jason Norsen was 5-for-5 from the floor and finished with 13 points. Jordan Gettings added 12 points and tied his career-high with seven assists.   Jordan Koch and Michael Wopperer also scored 12.
