Volleyball Wraps up Regular Season with Split at Geneseo Tri-match

The St. John Fisher College volleyball team wrapped up a 19-15 regular season schedule with a split at the SUNY Geneseo Tri-match on Saturday afternoon.

In the noon match, Fisher lost a five-set battle to the hosting Knights.  With a two-game deficit, both 25-18 games, the Cardinals turned around to win two straight (25-17, 25-19), before dropping the decider 15-9.  Seniors Sydney Kandefer and Liz Patrone led the effort, with Kandefer recording a team-best 16 kills and Patrone picking up a 15 digs to lead the squad.  Amanda Pinak tallied 12 kills and seven digs, while newcomer Kelsey Osborne chimed in with 12 digs.

Turning around from the loss, the Cardinals defeated SUNY Potsdam 3-1 later in the afternoon.  Becca Smith led with 11 kills and eight digs, while Kandefer added seven kills and three aces.  Junior setter Amy Street tallied 32 assists and eight digs in the victory.

The Cardinals, who narrowly missed out of Empire 8 postseason play, will hope for an ECAC Tournament bid to continue the season.
