The St. John Fisher College men's basketball team improved to 4-0 in the Empire 8 and 8-2 overall as the Cardinals
cruised past the Saxons to a 73-40 win.
Fisher took a 9-0 lead in the first three and a half minutes of play, and maintained as much as an 18-point lead throughout the remainder of the first half. The Cardinals did not fall below a 20-point lead in the last 17 minutes of the game.
Four Fisher players scored in the double digits for the win.
Michael Wopperer led the Cardinals with 17 points (8-for-11) and five rebounds, while
Matt Newman shot 5-for-6 for 12 points.
Jordan Koch and
Jordan Gettings followed with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
The Cardinals continue Empire 8 play as they travel to Utica Friday to take on the hosting Pioneers. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
