The St. John Fisher College women's volleyball team went 1-1 on day one of the Empire 8 Crossover at Hartwick. The Cardinals
defeated Utica 3-0 (25-12, 25-12, 25-21) in their first match, and went on
to lose a heartbreaking match in five games to Ithaca (22-25 25-19 25-23 17-25 10-15).
Against Utica, the Cardinals were led by
Elaina Braun, who recorded five kills on six attempts, had 27 assists, and picked up seven digs and four blocks.
Brittany Rowan aided in the win with eight kills and eight digs.
Amanda Pinak picked up three kills.
In the fight against Ithaca,
Sydney Kandefer recorded 8 kills and 10 digs, while
Jenna Waldron picked up 21 digs and
Becca Smith had 14 kills and 20 digs.
The Cardinals return to action when they take on Nazareth at 10:30 tomorrow morning.
