The St. John Fisher College volleyball team got things off on the right foot ,as the Cardinals
topped the SUNY Geneseo Blue Knights 3-1 (25-8, 25-21, 22-25, 25-16) in the season-opener for both squads.
The Cardinals were led by
Alyssa Ziobrowski, who totaled 13 kills, while sophomore
Sydney Kandefer finished with eight. Junior transfer
Elaina Braun set the standard in her first game in a Fisher uniform, with a team-high 29 assists. Defensively, reigning Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Year
Jenna Waldron finished with 18 digs, while freshman Rebecca Smith added 16 digs.
Fisher will return to action at 7 p.m. on Wednesday to host Morrisville.
