Women's Lax Uses Late Rally To Beat Bombers

Senior All-American Laurie Quackenbush scored five goals to lead Fisher to a 16-13 win over Ithaca.
The St. John Fisher College women’s lacrosse team outlasted visiting Ithaca College on Saturday afternoon, earning a 16-13 decision over the Bombers to improve to 6-3 overall and 3-1 in the Empire 8 Conference.
 
With the game tied at 12-12, Fisher went on a 4-1 run over the final 7:21 to pull away.  Lauren Glavin (Corcoran/Syracuse) scored her second goal of the game with 7:21 left to put Fisher up for good.  Senior All-American Laurie Quackenbush (Penn Yan Academy/Penn Yan) tallied her fifth goal of the game just over one minute later.
 
Ithaca pulled to within a goal with just over four minutes left, but Ashley Fenyn (Newark/Newark) and Courtney Clare (West Genesee/Syracuse) added insurance goals to seal the win.
 
To go with her five goals, Quackenbush added six draw controls, five ground balls, four caused turnovers and one assist.  Clare finished with four goals and four draw controls.
 
Lauren Glavin totaled two goals and one assist, while Fenyn and freshman Danielle Whyte (Honeoye Falls-Lima/Honeoye Falls) also scored two goals.
 
Trish Scudder (Corning East/Beaver Dams) collected one goal and two assists, while Katie Glavin (Corcoran/Syracuse) finished with one assist.
 
Vicki Sahm (Bishop Ludden/Baldwinsville) earned her sixth win in goal and made 15 saves.
Fisher will return to action at 1 p.m. on Sunday and will host Elmira College.
